fter more than a century of serving the community, the River Region United Way (RRUW) has opened the doors to its new building and first permanent home. On Tuesday, May 20, the organization hosted a ribbon-cutting and Open House to officially welcome the community to its new location at 624 South Perry Street in downtown Montgomery.
The newly renovated building, once home to the historic Frederick Agency, has been transformed into a vibrant hub for community connection and nonprofit collaboration. The move from a less-visible office on Zelda Road marks a new chapter for RRUW, bringing the organization into the heart of the city it serves.
For over 100 years, United Way organizations across the country have played a vital role in building stronger communities by supporting local nonprofits, advancing education, promoting financial stability, and improving health outcomes. The River Region United Way carries out that mission locally, supporting 32 partner agencies that directly impact the lives of individuals and families in the Montgomery area and surrounding counties.
With the addition of training rooms, meeting space, and dedicated areas for emerging nonprofits to grow, the new facility is more than just an office—it's a place designed to strengthen the region’s nonprofit infrastructure and enhance collaboration across organizations.
The 14-month renovation has breathed new life into the former Frederick Agency building, preserving a piece of Montgomery history while giving RRUW a much-needed home base. This new space reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to being visible, accessible, and deeply rooted in the community it serves.
