River Region United Way recently hosted a reception to honor the members of its Tocqueville Society, recognizing their extraordinary commitment to philanthropy and service in our community. The event was held Thursday, February 12, at the new City Grill private event space and brought together supporters for an evening of fellowship and celebration.
Guests enjoyed food, drinks, and conversation while hearing remarks from River Region United Way President Jannah Bailey and Board Chairman Chris Carver, who expressed gratitude for the leadership and generosity demonstrated by Tocqueville Society members. Their support helps advance the organization’s mission of creating opportunities for a better life for all across the River Region.
Attendees also had the opportunity to purchase original artwork during the reception, with 10 percent of each sale benefiting River Region United Way. This special opportunity to support the organization through art will remain available through the end of March.
The Tocqueville Society was established nationally in 1972 and locally in 1984 to deepen individual understanding of and commitment to United Way’s work. The Society recognizes individuals who make annual gifts of $10,000 or more and who demonstrate outstanding voluntary service in their communities. Named for 19th-century French diplomat Alexis de Tocqueville, the Society reflects his admiration for America’s spirit of volunteerism and collective action for the common good.
River Region United Way is grateful for the generosity of its Tocqueville Society members and their enduring dedication to strengthening our community.
