Montgomery, AL— December 29, 2025 — On Sunday, December 21, a devastating fire occurred at Woodley Terrace Apartments, displacing multiple families and significantly impacting our neighbors and their homes. In response, River Region United Way (RRUW) is partnering with a local apartment complex owner to help families secure new housing. The apartment management has generously agreed to waive security deposits, and RRUW will cover the first month’s rent for 11 affected families.

River Region United Way is assisting a number of families in relocating to another home, but we are calling on our community to help. Your support will help them settle into their new place. These families have lost everything. You can make a financial contribution, with 100% going to the families. Your contribution is 100% tax-deductible.”

RRUW is also partnering with The Salvation Army to collect clothing, shoes, furniture, and household items for these families. Donations can be dropped off at The Salvation Army, 3460 Carter Hill Rd, Montgomery, AL 36111. When dropping off items, please specify that donations are to support Woodley Terrace Families.
Community members who wish to make a financial contribution can text WOODLEY to 41444. Every dollar donated will go directly to the families and individuals impacted by this tragic event.
