The Flatwood Community in north Montgomery County suffered devastating destruction and loss on Wednesday, November 30th. The heart of the Flatwood Community Center was among the many homes damaged or destroyed.
The repairs are ongoing, and we have teamed up with community partners like Hands On River Region, 211, Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, EMA, and more to provide relief to those impacted in the Flatwood Community.
One such partnership is with Union Academy Baptist Church. On Sunday, December 11th Union Academy Baptist hosted a drive-thru fundraiser where we raised more than $49,000 for the Flatwood community. Currently, donations have totaled more than $67,000 to help rebuild Flatwood.
While this may seem more than enough, Flatwood is still in dire need of assistance. We recently found out that the disaster in Flatwood is not eligible for assistance from FEMA. Any support you can continue to give us is greatly appreciated.
